How to make the most of the ordinary?
This staircase had been built into a wall with cupboards underneath. We removed the wall and slotted in a new stair below while it hung precariously in space. That finished, the wall was replaced with series of timber staves to allow the light to penetrate and some exciting shadows to form. A little pale paint wash turned the softwood into something more special.
